Last one month has changed everything in our nation. The Delhi Gangrape case has actually brought to light many things which are not so " theek hai " in our so called civilized society.
Why had Damini become a victim... had many reasons...
and we need to actually set them right now.
When I got to know about this case, I really felt bad for this girl. It was a mixed feeling of sorrow and lot of anger. Could actually feel the pain which Damini had undergone and each and everyone of us was feeling the same pain. Someone was feeling sad, someone was blaming the system and majority of us were extremely angry about what had happened.
Our Gurus say that we should feel compassionate for the culprits also but that day " Mere Compassion ki dhajjiyaan Ud gayee thi "
This incident was not only about hurting a woman but it was hurting the mind and the soul of a fellow human being. When we go to a Doctor and we see the Doctor applying tincture or an antiseptic cream on the patient's wound , we ourselves shudder, as if the pain is happening to us. There is a connection between all of us as human beings and we feel the same pain and happiness.
Then why the five "so called Human Beings" who hurt this person badly did not realise this connection. I fail to understand.....Why had they forgotten that they were also born in the Human Race and were not worms from the Gutter?? And if they really think and have behaved like cockroaches then they deserve a treatment what cockroaches deserve in our house. They should be hanged or given a severe punishment so that it acts as a deterrent for others. I often get reminded of the " Stupid Common Man " in the Movie "A Wednesday"
A recent song in Punjabi had these words , "Chaar hi tareekyaan naal banda sidha hunda, Sada Pyar naal, Shauk Naal, Lalach ya Dande naal." Four things can actually reform someone - First is love, Second is interest, Third is Greed and Fourth is the Stick. These five Cockroaches have gone beyond the first three and now need a Stick ( A Danda ) and then definitely a Fanda.
But why these five acted in the way they have acted is not only because of them but also because of each and every one of us. Here "Us" comprises Politicians, Bureaucrats, Policemen and all the Citizens of our country including myself.
Their Basic Profile itself tells us why they behaved the way they did. All of them were Uneducated, had no Human Values, were under the Influence of Alcohol, had No Fear of Police and the Law and had a strong belief in Lawlessness and manipulating the system. They knew that they will not be punished in our present System as it has happened before.
These are the root causes of why it happened and there are certain actions we can take as fellow human beings
Cause 1 : Lack of Education - Action - Let us take responsibility for seeing that all around us get proper education. If we keep Children under fourteen as our maids/ Servants, we are equally responsible for the lack of education and in turn are responsible for the fate of the society. Let us ensure each and every child around us gets proper education
Cause 2 : No Human Values - Action - I Request all the School curriculum Makers to include Moral & Human Values as a separate subject in our schools and imbibe these values right from the beginning of the growth. Lets change our monotonous teaching system and convert it into education. Why cant we make Meditation compulsory right from Class 1 - It is a proven fact that Meditation reduces the Violent Tendencies. If anyone of you know these top guys please tell them to do it or we can approach them to change it now. If you have any other solutions , please do let me know. Lets team up and do it now.
Cause 3 : Alcohol - Action - Gujarat has banned Alcohol and there is drastic reduction in crime. I dont know how much this is feasible in India. Thesedays, there are more "Thekas" and less dispensaries in cities. Daaru is so easily available to a 14 year old , To top up he also has got the money and the support to buy it. Now why the adminstration does not look here, may because.... there are bigger interests and lobbies working in here.
Daaru ki Botal kehti hai, mujhe mat piyo, but hamara Samaj wahi Daaru Banata hai, Phir Supply karta hai saying ki Mat Piyo - Advertisements for Bagpiper etc. are shown as Soda Ads and Ads for glasses - Sheer Hypocrisy
If you drink and boast, you get a lot of support but if you do not drink, you are not happening. The one who is not drinking is not "happening" but those five guys who had drunk and became beasts are "happening".
Time to think over this and build up a society where people who are addicted to liquor are not at least encouraged on doing so.
May be we as sensible Parents, Friends & Teachers can monitor our near and dear ones atleast.
Cause 4 : Age Old Laws & slow Judiciary - Action - Request all the top lawmakers to amend our laws - Tomorrow the above incident can even happen in the families of anyone including the lawmakers also. Lets make strict laws with strict punishment now and this is not only for Rape but for other crimes & Corruption as well. People are afraid of approaching " Adalats" for the kind of Harassment they face during the case itself...we need to amend these laws....
Change it Sir...High time now.
Cause 5: Ineffective Politicians/ Government - If they dont change, better change them in 2014. Exercise your vote, dont let it go waste this time. This will be the best Shraddhanjali to Damini. When I think of this, sometimes my friends tell me that all are the same which infact has an element of truth. May be we need a king like Vikramaditya or Akbar or Maharaja Ranjeet Singh . However in the present state, we can vote for the right candidate - check all the manifestos and the profiles of the candidates before you vote. If all are not good, lets choose the better one out of them.
Cause 6 : Media and Bollywood - Start boycotting channels & movies which degrade human values, stop watching these - No TRP, No Demand - Will lead to No Supply. I just read that Rape Video Games are available in Market ( especially Palika Bazaar ) - We need to stop this - I request the authorities to raid these shops wherever they are existing. Kids are getting exposure to certain websites which can have a lot of damaging effect on their mind and can misguide them.
Why cant we filter these sites in India..Bloody ban them yaar...!!!
Cause 7 : Inaction on our part - If from now on, you see someone doing anything wrong, object to it. If anyone does eve teasing or drinks and creates nuisance, lets teach them a lesson this time.

It's modern for parents to drink with kids today.
They encourage kids on their skimpy dressing sense.
And mass media has a huge role in degrading the social values.
A porn actress is a star overnight.
A movie is incomplete without an item song.
Newspapers have become soft porns.
But it's we who have made all these popular.
Asked for it. Got it. Now crying over it.
Our traditions n culture were much better.
Lets stop being western for god sake n respect ourselves.

I may not have solutions for the causes mentioned above but a person reading might have and can start his own initiative and action. If you have solutions and actions, Please share and start them.
